Smoke Dampers at work: Thomas Fields

Project
D+H UK supplied, installed and commissioned a new natural smoke ventilation system at Buxton Extra Care. The development facilitates people over the age of 55, containing 53 two bedroom apartments with a range of on-site amenities. It offers independent living with access to on-site care.

System
D+H UK’s system has been configured to be a “stand alone” system and will work independently from the fire alarm system. In the event of activation the system will send a signal to the fire alarm panel.

In the event of a fire
If the fire-man’s override is activated on the smoke shaft, the local damper will open along with the head of shaft and local staircase. All other dampers on the shaft will close and become locked out.
