D+H presents the Atmosphere Awards 2024
Bioclimatic airport terminal outperforms its competitors - awards for projects around the globe
With innovative solutions for smoke extraction and ventilation, D+H characterises the indoor climate of over 100,000 buildings worldwide. This year, the company once again honoured outstanding projects by its service partners and sales companies with the prestigious D+H Atmosphere Award. The awards recognise exceptional installations that combine technical excellence and architectural aesthetics.
The French subsidiary D+H France secured the Platinum Award and thus the top spot in 2024 with its involvement in Roland Garros Airport on La Réunion. The airport's new terminal, a bioclimatic masterpiece, combines sustainability and efficiency. D+H developed an intelligent ventilation system that utilises the island's trade winds. At the heart of the solution are 860 louvre windows with LD series louvre drives and around 30 CPS-M series control centres that precisely regulate ventilation and smoke extraction. This project is a prime example of pioneering sustainable architecture under demanding climatic conditions.
D+H Sverige won the Gold Award with an innovative solution for the complex ‘World of Volvo’ timber construction project in Gothenburg. A customised smoke and heat extraction system with 15 trapezoidal scissor windows and window drives from the CDC series ensures safety and comfort in the visionary architecture.
In the ‘Partnership’ category, which recognises outstanding cooperation between two sales partners, D+H UK and Raico Bautechnik GmbH won the award for the redesign of the Lots Road Power Station in London. More than 240 customised twin chain drives from the CDP series were installed for the listed façade.
An advanced shading solution made the ‘Mercado do Bolhão’ in Porto a winner in the ‘Innovation’ category. 252 weather-resistant ZA series rack and pinion drives protect the market hall from solar radiation and optimise air circulation, thanks to the innovative capabilities of the Portuguese sales subsidiary D+H Portugal.
