The network for smoke extraction and natural ventilation
Digital, networked, integral and smart: These four words describe the key themes of BAU 2019 and also perfectly match the solutions that D+H is presenting at BAU, the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. Using an impressive staging of a building, the specialist in smoke extraction, natural ventilation and lift shaft smoke extraction will present its range of products in Munich from January 14 - 19, 2019. At the event, the focus will be on the networking of D+H's intelligent control panels and motorised window drives. This includes the innovative LDx-1800 louvre drive, which D+H will be exhibiting at BAU. However, it's not only technological networking ideas from D+H that will play a large role at BAU. For the first time, there will also be focus days that will feature D+H Group international service and sales companies and partners.
The more complex the construction, the greater the desire for simplification is at the same time. The key to this lies in digitalization. "Only a precisely planned network enables you to minimise the cable paths in buildings, conserve energy and achieve both the best in convenience and the highest in safety", says Stefan Decknatel, Vice President of Sales and Innovation Management at D+H Mechatronic AG. "As a specialised company, D+H is the perfect contact when it comes to smart technologies for smoke extraction, natural ventilation and lift shaft smoke extraction". At BAU 2019, the Hamburg-based company will show visitors in spectacular fashion just how uncomplicated setting up complex networks consisting of window drives and control panels in buildings can be. In fact, this will be demonstrated on a large 3-D cut-out of a building, which will be around six metres high and four metres wide. In the roof area, a skylight will be opened with the powerful ZA-ACB Series rack and pinion drive, and on the façade, the CDC-ACB Series chain drives – among the quietest on the market – will be showing their performance. Another highlight at the D+H booth will be the new LDx-1800 louvre drive. The LDx-1800 is equipped with ACB technology and features a slim design, which is more powerful than one might imagine.
Able to apply a force of 1,800 N, it can open large and heavy louvre windows quietly and safely – without attracting attention. As a result, it is the ideal smoke extraction and ventilation solution for sophisticated and challenging glass structures.
Alongside smoke extraction and natural ventilation solutions, a joint venture of D+H, the BlueKit Factory, will also present its solution for the ventilation and smoke extraction of lift shafts. "In airtight residential buildings without separate ceiling openings that go outside, there is often a lack of sufficient air circulation in the lift shaft," says Patrick Schweibl, Managing Director of BK-Factory. "Our new system, the BlueKit D-AIO, closes this gap in safety by conducting ventilation by means of the stairwell adjacent to the lift shaft." The use of this intelligent solution – consisting of control panel, ventilator, air quality sensors and smoke detectors – delivers enormous cost savings potential for customers and ensures reliable systems for the user.
Language connects – so too in information technology
As is necessary for every successful network, optimal communication is also required in one consisting of control panels and drives. D+H has developed ACB technology (Advanced Communication Bus) for such purposes, based on the established Modbus RTU protocol. Thanks to ACB, the drives do not only receive instructions, but also send back status messages. This continuous sharing increases safety in buildings and ensures that complex ventilation and smoke extraction scenarios are able to be implemented without unnecessary complication.
This technology works optimally in cooperation with the digital CPS-M smoke vent control panel. For ventilation purposes, ACB drives can also be connected directly with the building management system of a property.
It features three new functions, with position control that is accurate to the millimetre, a comprehensive event buffer and the virtual grouping. "The virtual grouping of the CPS-M enables each ACB drive to continue to be operated separately, even on the same group connector," says Stefan Decknatel. This would reduce cable routing inside of buildings immensely. "Furthermore, thanks to the new AM 230 module, the CPS-M can now supply and control 230 V drives alongside 24 V drives."
Anywhere in the world, we're not far away: D+H will show off its international character at BAU
A week of intensive discussions, held in a variety of languages: For the first time, the international service and sales companies and partners of the D+H Group will also share their specialised expertise on smoke exhaust and the supply of fresh air in buildings with booth visitors. For example, D+H Polska will present their solution for mechanical smoke extraction. "Our worldwide service and sales partner network is unique in the industry," says Mark Nowotny, Head of International Sales. "We are very glad that our international colleagues will also be with us in Munich and will be available to answer visitor's questions." Along with in-person discussions, the D+H booth will also offer action and fun. Booth visitors will be able to demonstrate their reflexes at a digital "reaction wall." Those who are interested in interacting in this exceptional atmosphere are welcome to visit the D+H trade fair booth 420 in hall B1.
