Doing the heavy lifting on the roof – with precision
When it comes to lifting particularly heavy weights: The high-performance rack and pinion drives of the DXD Series open and close windows, flaps or domes powerfully, precisely and yet extremely quietly. The certified DXD drives from D+H are suitable both as natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV) in case of fire, and for daily natural ventilation. Their motors can be controlled precisely and synchronized with other drives as necessary. Robust rack-and-pinion sets enable high pressure stability, regardless of whether the drive is being used as a force of pressure or tension application. In terms of stroke length too, the DXD Series goes above and beyond the average drive in enabling particularly wide openings. This allows toxic gases to escape quickly and be replaced by fresh air in the building.

The DXD series at work: Puławy Sports Centre
The Puławy sports centre required an exceptional smoke extraction solution for its large roof. Given the large playing area and the general nature of the spaces, it was necessary to use flaps that are not only part of the smoke extraction system, but also the natural ventilation system.
It was decided to use 40 oversized double-leaf top-hung windows, each measuring 2 x 3 metres, equipped with DXD series rack and pinion drives, and two single-leaf top-hung windows, each measuring 1.4 x 1.7 metres, also operated with DXD 300/800-BSY+HS series drives.
Selected flaps can be opened daily for ventilation. The top-hung vents also admit ample natural light to illuminate the court in the daytime. This saves a lot of electricity that would otherwise be used operating the air conditioning and lighting systems.
